After blogging with WordPress for so many years, I have forgotten how difficult it was for me when I started my first self hosted WordPress Blog. I have taken blogging using WordPress as a matter of fact and in my mind, I though everyone knows how to start their own self hosted blog. Be it with WordPress or any other platform.
It was only after a friend asked for my advise when he wanted to start his own blog that I realized that there are still many like him out there. Though this friend of mine is a computer wiz, able to read and write a ton of computer languages, he knows next to nothing when it comes to blogging, registering a domain and buying a hosting package.
I gather then there must be lots of people out there who wants to start a self hosted blog but has no idea how and where to start. No doubt there are tens of thousands of tutorials out there covering this area, many are already outdated and have not been updated for years. Some of the videos I check still shows the obsolete version of WordPress 2.7.
Not wanting my friend to learn something that might not be in use anymore, I started A Step By Step Guide To Starting Your First WordPress Blog.
I will have to remind all that what you learn here will not be how to to blog, but how to START a blog. Though there are many blog gurus who claims that they can teach you how to blog, I am not one of them.
This blog then is for absolute beginners who wants to start their first self hosted WordPress Blog with their own domain name and host server.
If you are a beginner or even if you already is an experienced blogger using other platforms but has never attempted to blog with WordPress using your own domain and hosting, then this guide is for you.
